Nutella Smoothie Bowl

A Nutella Smoothie Bowl is a creamy and indulgent treat, blending the rich flavor of Nutella with fresh fruits and nutritious toppings. It’s a customizable, delicious option for a satisfying and energizing meal or snack.
Prep Time 10 minutes
Total Time 10 minutes

Ingredients

  • ▢1 ½ cups frozen banana slices
  • ▢½ cup frozen avocado chunks lightly thawed for 15 minutes
  • ▢⅓ cup toasted hazelnuts see note below
  • ▢1 tablespoon raw cocoa or cacao powder
  • ▢1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • ▢½ cup unsweetened plant milk almond, soy, coconut, or oat

Instructions

  • Toast the hazelnuts by placing them in a dry skillet over medium heat, shaking the pan frequently for 5-10 minutes. Alternatively, you can roast them in the oven by spreading the hazelnuts on a baking sheet and baking at 350°F for 10-15 minutes. Allow them to cool completely before using.
  • Remove the frozen avocado chunks from the freezer at least 15 minutes before preparing the smoothie bowl.
  • Add all ingredients to a blender, starting with the unsweetened plant milk, followed by frozen banana slices, thawed avocado chunks, cocoa powder, and maple syrup.
  • Blend until smooth. If you're using a Vitamix blender, the tamper can help break down the frozen fruit for an even smoother texture.
  • Pour the mixture into a bowl and top with your favorite toppings. I like to add mini dark chocolate chips, extra toasted hazelnuts, fresh banana slices, 1 tablespoon of Nutella (microwaved for 30 seconds to make it pourable), and hemp hearts.

Notes

I suggest removing the avocado chunks from the freezer about 15 minutes before preparing the bowl to help your blender puree them smoothly. Skipping this step may result in small green bits in your smoothie bowl.
The toasted hazelnuts should be fully cooled before adding them to the recipe. I typically toast the hazelnuts in advance and store them in a jar.
The nutritional value is approximate and reflects the smoothie bowl without any toppings. This recipe yields one large smoothie bowl or two smaller ones.
