Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground Beef ground turkey, chicken, or pork can also be used
  • 12 oz Linguine Pasta spaghetti or fettuccine are great alternatives
  • 2 cups Pasta Water reserved from cooking the pasta
  • 4-5 Garlic Cloves minced
  • 1 tsp Ginger Paste or 1 teaspoon dried ginger
  • 1/4 cup Soy Sauce
  • 1/4 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1 pinch Red Pepper Flakes optional, for a slight hint of spice
  • 3 tbsp Hoisin Sauce BBQ sauce is a suggested substitute
  • 1/2 tsp Ground Black Pepper
  • 1 tbsp Cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp Cold Water
  • 2-3 Green Onions sliced (optional for garnish)
  • 1-2 tsp Sesame Seeds optional for garnish

Instructions

  • Cook the Pasta: In a pot of salted boiling water, cook the pasta according to the package directions until al dente. Reserve 2 cups of pasta water before draining.
  • Brown the Meat: In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef along with the minced garlic. Drain any excess grease if necessary.
  • Add the Sauce Ingredients: Stir in the ginger, soy sauce, brown sugar, red pepper flakes (if using), hoisin sauce, and black pepper.
  • Thicken the Sauce: In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with the cold water. Stir this mixture into the meat and let it simmer for a couple of minutes to thicken.
  • Combine Pasta and Sauce: Add 1 cup of the reserved pasta water to the skillet, then toss in the cooked and drained pasta. Stir well until everything is evenly coated with the sauce. (You may need to add an additional 1/2 cup of pasta water, depending on your desired sauce thickness.)
  • Garnish and Serve: If desired, top with sliced green onions and sesame seeds. Serve hot and enjoy!
