Ingredients

For the Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup BBQ sauce
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter melted
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Sriracha

For the Wings:

  • 18 raw chicken wings thawed and cleaned
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder or paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper powder
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour APF
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil

Instructions

  • Pat the chicken wings dry with clean tissue paper. Arrange the wings on a tray and refrigerate them for at least 15 minutes (this step is optional, but it helps achieve extra crispy wings when baked). Toss the wings with salt, paprika, garlic powder, black pepper, and vegetable oil, ensuring they are evenly coated with the seasoning.
  • Next, add the flour to the wings and toss them again to ensure each wing is evenly coated. Shake off any excess flour and arrange the wings on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Bake the chicken wings for 15 minutes, then flip them over and bake for an additional 15 minutes. In the meantime, combine all the sauce ingredients in a saucepan and simmer for about 7 to 8 minutes, until the sauce slightly thickens.
  • Once the wings have cooled slightly, pour the BBQ sauce over them and toss to evenly coat. Bake the sauced wings for an additional 8 to 10 minutes, or until the sauce thickens. Allow the wings to cool before serving with ranch dressing.

Notes

  • For the crispiest wings, pat them dry with a clean paper towel and refrigerate before baking.
  • Monitor the wings closely to ensure they are neither undercooked nor overcooked.
  • Flip the wings midway through cooking to ensure even cooking on both sides.
  • Bake the wings until you see the sauce caramelize.
