- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup 2 sticks unsalted butter, melted
- 3 large eggs at room temperature
- 2 ½ teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 2 cups cake flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ⅔ cup sour cream
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar for topping
Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 9x9-inch baking dish.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the sugar and melted butter, mixing for about 1 minute until the mixture becomes light and fluffy.
Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
In a separate bowl, sift together the cake flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, mixing just until combined.
