Avocado Toast
Avocado toast is a versatile, delicious, and nutritious dish that can be customized with a variety of toppings. Whether you're looking for a simple snack or a hearty meal, it's the perfect combination of creamy, savory, and satisfying.
Prep Time 2 minutes mins
Cook Time 3 minutes mins
Total Time 5 minutes mins
- 1 slice of bread thick-sliced whole-grain bread is my preferred choice
- 1/2 ripe avocado
- A pinch of salt
- Optional: Any of the additional toppings mentioned in this post
Toast your slice of bread until it's golden and firm.
Cut the avocado in half and remove the pit. Use a large spoon to scoop the flesh into a bowl, then mash it with a fork to your preferred texture. Add a pinch of salt (about 1/8 teaspoon) and adjust the seasoning to taste if needed.
Spread the mashed avocado onto your toast. Enjoy it as is or add any of the optional toppings suggested in this post (I highly recommend a light sprinkle of flaky sea salt if you have it).
To make it gluten-free, simply use gluten-free bread. My assistant Megan recommends Canyon Bakehouse 7-Grain Bread, which she finds at Natural Grocers.
